Teens arrested after posting firebombing video on MySpace.com
Two teenage boys were arrested on charges
of possessing "destructive devices" after
a video allegedly showing the duo firebombing
an empty airplane hangar was posted online
at MySpace.com, a social networking site.
Novato police said a tip led them to watch
the video, which provided clues for identifying
the hangar's location and the teens who were
arrested Tuesday. In the clip, two boys each
are seen setting off a homemade firebomb,
said Novato Police Lt. Jim Laveroni.

Online police pedophile unit for WA
WEST Australian police could soon be posing
as children online in a bid to bust internet
pedophile rings, the State Government said
today. New laws passed in Western Australia
allow police to go undercover on the internet
and trawl chat rooms. WA's Cyber Predator
Team is modelled on a Queensland police unit
called Task Force Argos which, it is claimed,
has achieved remarkable results.

A Tsunami of Pedophile Predators
I've always been of the opinion that there
is a special place in hell reserved for
pedophiles. Of course, when I think of
pedophiles, I have for years had a mental
picture of such a creep as a late-middle-
aged man with pastey skin, a few strands
of disheveled hair, bleary eyes and a beer
gut who hangs out in the shadows of adult
bookstores. That is NOT the face of today's
pedophiles as the news reveals.

Microsoft to Issue Five Security Fixes
Microsoft today said it plans to issue
at least five free software updates next
week to fix security flaws in its Windows
operating system and other software
products. At least one of the updates will
carry a "critical" rating, which Microsoft
assigns to flaws that could be used by
attackers or automated computer worms
to take over vulnerable computers without
any action on the part of the user.

Why VOIP Needs Crypto
There are basically four ways to eavesdrop
on a telephone call. One, you can listen
in on another phone extension. This is the
method preferred by siblings everywhere.
If you have the right access, it's the
easiest. While it doesn't work for cell
phones, cordless phones are vulnerable to
a variant of this attack: A radio receiver
set to the right frequency can act as
another extension.

Forget passwords? Try remembering faces instead.
Consider all the problems with computer
passwords. Employees forget them or make
them dangerously simple. (According to
one security expert, "password" is among
the most popular choices.) Or they write
them on Post-it notes and stick them on
a monitor where someone could find them
and stroll into a network.
